Sponsorship
The Auckland Australs 2010 bid team has already secured generous financial support from the University of Auckland. This sponsorship provides us with an excellent foundation from which to proceed with further fundraising, and will ensure that we have the means to host a truly exceptional tournament.
We recognize and accept that the present global economic context is not an ideal one in which to be soliciting corporate sponsorship, and will do our utmost to seek out alternative sources of funding. Members of our organisational committee have great experience in this regard, having successfully secured large amounts of funding from numerous corporate sponsors and charitable trusts for large debating events in the past.
Debating is extremely well received by chartitable organizations in New Zealand who have in the past contributed significant sums towards the running of events and competitions. The New Zealand Schools Debating Council, the New Zealand University Debating Council, and the Auckland Schools Debating Competition all receive major sponsorship from corporate law firms. Generous support was extended to Victoria University from both the corporate and charitable sector when they hosted Australs in 2006, and we have every intention of emulating this at Auckland Australs for 2010.
